Nicole Pelt

Yá'át'ééh! My name is Nicole Pelt, I am Navajo and Yaqui, coming from the four corners area and the greater Southwest, currently residing on Tiwa Lands in Albuquerque. I was born off of the reservation in Brownsville, Texas, but lived in the Tsaile and Albuquerque area during my childhood. I spent my high school years in Texas, where I saw firsthand the inequities that POC and Indigenous Peoples face in areas of displacement. I knew I was meant to give back to my community in any way, and thus pursued higher education.

I am a recent graduate coming from the University of New Mexico, where I was part of the Native American Studies department, and worked extensively with engaging in Indigenous worldviews, Indigenous research methodology, and Indigenous sociopolitical concepts throughout my undergraduate degree.

Being rooted in my own Indigenous cultures has played a huge role in my life. I believe in a world where we are all grounded in relativity and Ke. That being said, I hope to incorporate those views into my work, and grow with RCLLC.

In my free time, you can find me playing with my dogs, Duck and Goose, or hanging out with my girlfriend (usually doing some sort of craft)!
